I read a fascinating article in the New York Times a few years ago about the evolution of Manhattan’s skyline. With air space being one of the only forms of new real estate left to buy in the city, the article predicted that in time, NYC would resemble cities like Hong Kong or Dubai, where super tall and skinny skyscrapers dominate the city landscape.

At the time, 432 Park was under construction and I remember thinking how bizarre and out of place it looked. But fast forward only 5 years and this 1,397-foot skyscraper has already been joined by a handful of others, all of which fall into the supertall category (over 1,000 feet) and are some of the tallest buildings in the world! Among these skyscrapers are Central Park Tower (the world’s tallest residential building at 1,550 feet), 111 West 57th Street (1,428 feet), One57 (1,004 feet), and soon to be 41-47 West 57th (1,100), just to name a few.

Now dubbed Billionaire’s Row, these ultra-luxury, residential skyscrapers along 57th Street have completely changed the look of the city. And just like anything new, there are people who love them and people who hate them! So what do you think? Are you a fan of these new architectural marvels?
